It was great to see all of the school spirit last week as our 4th graders dressed up for the various spirit days. I hope they enjoyed and learned a lot during Thursday's Red Ribbon and time capsule ceremony. Here is our class submission to the time capsule, as well as a couple of photos from the assembly: We have an exciting week of learning ahead of us! Tomorrow is our Living Coast field trip. Please send students to school with hats, as well as light sweaters in case it is chilly in the morning, as it tends to be along the coast. Also please remember to supply them with a lunch, unless you made note on the permission form that they needed a school-issued lunch. On Thursday, we will have our annual costume parade. Here are guidelines for the costumes: Halloween Costumes: Please note that students may wear Halloween Costumes for our Costume Parade ONLY. The Halloween Costume Parade will begin at 8:30 am to 9:30 am on the blacktop after teachers have taken attendance. Students must follow the following guidelines:
Finally, please see some announcements below. Have a great week!

The 5th Annual parent academy is tomorrow! I gave you the flyer during parent conferences. One of the presenters this year is Melissa Hughes. She was formerly one of our outstanding 6th grade teachers here at Camarena before moving to CVESD's Energy Station. She will be presenting on how parents can help their children to identify and explore their personal interests, and how their strengths and interests can lead to success in the future! Please register for this free event here. Red Ribbon week is next week. Please visit our Camarena Elementary Blog for the schedule for the dress up days.
This week we have been engaging in collaborative conversations across our reading and science content areas. Students have been comparing and contrasting characters within stories, characters across multiple stories, and also about the function of how our muscles and bones work together to enable movement. Discussions have been lively with everyone having the opportunity to practice their skills of discussion and active listening. |
