Welcome to the upper grades! I anticipate an enriching year full of growth and memories. Thank you in advance for your support and patience as this year's "bees" and I get to know each other and create our "hive" of learning.
I would like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself. I am beyond blessed with a supportive family who serves as the foundation of who I am, two (soon to be 3) wonderful kids who make each and every day brighter, and a career that keeps me inspired and living a life that I love. I have cherished every second of every minute as an educator, and have been privileged to have contributed to the growth of my students, both as learners and as citizens in our community.
It is my hope that your child will accomplish their goals by building upon the skills they have acquired through:
Critical thinking in Reading, Writing, and Math daily
Project-Based learning, including oral & visual presentations
Independent, partner, and group work
Organizing, processing, and studying from their interactive notebooks
Participating in class simulations and/or integrating technology to enrich learning
Useful homework Monday-Thursday and Friday, only if it is necessary.
In addition to academic instruction, I have high expectations for behavior both in and out of the classroom. Students will be expected to follow the school rules:
Be a friend
Under the guidance of our school rules, together the class and I will create our own class motto, which will drive our learning environment for the year. As your child’s teacher, it is my goal to promote a sense of pride and trust through a positive and safe learning environment. I also believe that by establishing an open line of communication between parents, teachers, and students, we can have a positive impact and help your child reach their potential.
Please review the syllabus (coming soon) for some basics about the class. At your earliest convenience, please fill out the yellow parent info sheet and return it to me either at the Meet and Greet or by the end of the first week of school (July 21). In addition, if you are able to, please see the supply list below for items your child will need, as well as items to donate. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
I look forward to the year ahead, as we work together to provide a memorable learning experience for your child!
